About Me
I began writing for pleasure, fascinated by the magical worlds I created by embellishing my daydreams with prose. Then, to avoid becoming a starving artist, I became a registered nurse, now retired.
In November of 2020, spurred on by decades of social turmoil and environmental erosion, I published a spiritual work, Prayer Book for Our Planet: Solutions for Social Justice and Environmental Change, through Kindle Direct Publishing. The book’s URL is prayerbookforourplanet.com.
My marketing approach began with my book’s publication when I emailed a copy of the book to global environmental groups I found online. They included religious and secular ministries that numbered 377. In addition, U.N. Environmental Organizations were part of my campaign, and I targeted the emails to the demographic groups they addressed.
At home, I marketed to members of Congress, news anchors at major networks, and groups that served specific populations, such as animal welfare organizations, gay rights groups, and global youth groups.
As a Christmas gift for 2020, I sent a copy of Prayer Book to Pope Francis and received a lovely note of gratitude from the Vatican. In addition, I have received consecutive royalty checks as a result of my marketing efforts. I understand through this experience how critically important mailing lists are in getting the word out.
I have a social media presence on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter.
My formal background is in behavioral health nursing. I graduated with honors from nursing school and received the Award for Clinical Excellence. With a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cultural Anthropology and a minor in Social and Behavioral Sciences, I’ve studied world cultures, customs, languages, and religions and traveled to 15 countries.
I believe my behavioral health training and study of world populations give me advantages in understanding the workings of the human mind. I use my education and clinical training in my writing and marketing approach, knowing our inner dialogues determine what we value and manifest and that we alter our realities by changing our thoughts.
Among other things, marketing my book has made me realize the critical role that mass scale must play in advertising and promotion. I look forward to mastering and executing the most effective marketing techniques that I’m currently refining with ongoing experience.
