Prayer Book for Our Planet
This book is inspired by a planet in crisis, and a world trapped in a powerful reluctance to change. It addresses world leaders and ordinary citizens, civil rights advocates, environmental organizations, and church ministries. It promotes social justice and environmental change through elevation of our global consciousness. In an unusual juxtaposition, the prayers combine praise and petition with ecological and societal issues that plague our planet. World hunger, lack of potable water supply, species eradication, deforestation, inequality, incendiary rhetoric and nuclear war, are a few examples. They offer common-sense solutions to critical problems, incorporating principles of recovery throughout. The prayers are lyrical in nature, and instill an intimate relationship with God. Planet Earth has reached its tipping point. It is only through heightened resolve and critical action that our planet will survive nature’s test of time.
About the Author
Marybeth Gallagher, R.N., has taught principles of healing and recovery throughout her career as a Behavioral Health nurse. Helping others to heal, and creating a more intimate relationship with God, are her most valued accomplishments. She attributes the Holy Spirit as the driving force behind this book, and feels led to share it with the planet for which it was written. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology, and has studied world cultures, religions, languages and customs. A Los Angeles native, she has lived near the beach most of her life. Her interests include world travel and customs, human and animal rights, cultural arts, classic film, and interior/environmental design.
